Creating a Foreign domain document
A Foreign domain document defines the path between a Domino domain and an external application, such as a fax or pager gateway. A Foreign domain document identifies the Domino server that acts as the gateway to the external application.
Applications such as X.400 and cc:Mail use their own specialized versions of the Foreign domain document to direct the messages through a message transfer agent (MTA). For more information about MTAs, see the documentation for the specific MTA.
Although Foreign domains are mostly used for third party applications, you can also use them to transfer messages between a Release 5.0 or later server and a Release 3.x SMTP server.
Restrictions that you set on this Foreign domain document apply only to the From domain of the previous hop. These restrictions work in conjunction with those in the Configuration Settings document. Domino always defaults to the most restrictive entry.
